If your item is still under its original warranty: 

• The repair will be free, as long as the issue is covered. 
• The original warranty remains active and unchanged - it does not reset or get extended. 
• The repair is also protected under that same warranty coverage. 

In short: you don’t lose anything by choosing a repair while your item is still under warranty, and you don’t need to pay anything if the issue qualifies.
